Tomek is already 30, but he has to learn everything again like a child. He used to be an average young and healthy man. He was working and enjoying his newly born daughter. Everything changed on 17 June 2007 when he had a terrible road accident. He survived, but suffered various serious injuries – he wasn’t able to breathe himself, brain contusion, liver injury and ribs, shoulder, elbow and thigh bone fractures.

First coma, then vegetative state, no contact with him. Many complications, operations, treatments and our daily care at his bed. We have been waiting for some sign of his comeback and making sure his body didn’t forget how to move.

Tomek&Zuzia 2 weeks before the accident

Tomek has recently recovered consciousness. However, he is not able to speak. We have a special way of communication – he chooses letters on displayed alphabetical chart by blinking or nodding his head. That’s the way we enter his world. He is paralyzed in all four limbs, lying on his bed with no chance to function on his own. Despite of this situation he fights for himself – he is getting stronger, doing his rehabilitations and exercises and he strongly believes that he will be able to stand on his own legs soon.

To help him, pharmacological treatments, daily intensive rehabilitations, special bed, mattress and rehabilitation equipment are necessary. This is all expensive and we can’t unfortunately afford it. However, I believe that your help will give Tomek a chance to continue his therapy and to improve his life. Thank you for your help – even the smallest donation is welcome.
