Hopes confronted with a harsh reality – this is the picture of global stock markets since December at the very least. Last week wasn’t any different. Minutes from Fed’s meeting in January sparkled a short-lived optimism which helped deliver a small rally on Wall Street and major European markets, but weak macroeconomic releases suppressed any significant gains.

Although the short term trend is creeping upwards, there is a lot of uncertainty and it is very likely that we will wait for a direction at least until payrolls and ISM reports, due in the 1st week of March. Next week’s durable orders, homes sales and 2nd GDP report (US 4th quarter) will probably not influence a sentiment on the market strong enough.
