The Treasury Ministry allowed publisher Axel Springer, Warsaw-listed PMPG, polish media group ZPR and Czech Respekt Media (owned by Zdenek Bakala) to launch due-diligence in publishing house PW Rzeczpospolita.

Investors should submit binding offers for the purchase of an 85% stake in the company by Feb 20. At the beginning of December 2008 the Treasury invited potential investors to negotiations over the sale of 3.4mn shares of PW Rzeczpospolita. The Treasury's advisor in the sale process is Doradztwo Gospodarcze DGA. In January five companies presented bids for the company, but the bid of group AV Inwestor was rejected. PW Rzeczpospolita holds a 49% stake in publishing firm Presspublica - the publisher of dailies Rzeczpospolita and Parkiet.
