Think tank IRG SGH expects rebound in construction industry's climate

Even though the beginning of this winter was mild, the Polish construction sector's results are unsatisfactory, according to the Institute of Economic Development (IRG) at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH).


The sector's business climate has been worsening, but forecasts allow to hope for a trend reversal, its report reads. In the current quarter, the sector's business indicator fell by 3pts y/y and by 5pts compared to the same period two years earlier.

In quarterly terms, the worsening was significant: an improvement of the overall economic situation was reported by 1.7% of surveyed enterprises (vs. 28.3% in the previous quarter), while worsening - by 51.4% (vs. 28.3%, respectively).

As for the sector's situation, the assessments are: 3.5% vs. 56.5%, respectively. However, the think tank stresses that forecasts are better than the assessment of the current situation - both in terms of the entire economy and the construction sector.
