Housed on the ground floor of Warsaw’s first skyscraper (the 1910 P.A.S.|T. Telegraph Building), ‘KOM’ is a restaurant that combines a pre-war ambience with 21st century gastronomy – a thrilling mix.
As soon as you enter the historic building, a stone’s throw from Świętokrzyska metro station, its scale and grandeur draw you into another world, allowing you to feel almost hermetically sealed from the hustle and bustle of downtown Warsaw outside.  The circular central foyer area soars skywards, flanked by three dining rooms (one doubling up as a pub/bar area).  Considering the space itself radiates elegance, the décor is appropriately minimalist, with bare, brick walls and plain but sleek dining chairs and sofas. Offsetting the potential austerity of this style, the window panes and glass bauble lights are decorated with frosted snowflake and angel motifs, adding a touch of Viennese Christmas market cosiness for the winter season.

If you are looking for rather pub than a restaurant to spend some time in a relaxed and casual atmosphere, “Bawarska” (Bavarian) Restaurant is a good place to go. Here, surrounded by both Bavarian interiors and music you may taste some specialties of the Bavarian cuisine (but not only) and start your journey to the land of beautiful nature, fairy tale Neuschwanstein Castle and the famous Oktoberfest.

If you find yourself tiring of traditional, rather heavy Polish cuisine, I can highly recommend a visit to the hotel InterContinental on Fridays between 6pm and 10pm, which now offers an ‘eat as much as you like’ seafood extravaganza for only PLN 139 (including a welcome drink).  In the elegant surroundings of the hotel’s ‘Downtown’ restaurant, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the iconoclastic Palace of Culture, you will find yourself transported away from the sleet and snow as your most exquisite seafood experiences are revived.

Those with passion for gourmet food, looking for a refined taste and elegant but relaxing atmosphere, cannot miss Rubikon restaurant on their list of ‘must to visit’ places. Located in a stylish villa dated back to the 30’s of the last century, the restaurant offers spacious interior with a cozy wine bar and large, summer garden – ideal to have late dinner in hot summer days.

You would have probably just passed the entrance to the courtyard when walking along the Krakowskie Przedmiescie street, but that would be a terrible mistake. The way through the bit strange courtyard is not really much promising, however, the hidden Likus Concept Store Restaurant needs to be discovered just as anything else that is unique, original or new.
