"Bawarska" Restaurant - Trip to Bavaria, April 2009

If you are looking for rather pub than a restaurant to spend some time in a relaxed and casual atmosphere, “Bawarska” (Bavarian) Restaurant is a good place to go. Here, surrounded by both Bavarian interiors and music you may taste some specialties of the Bavarian cuisine (but not only) and start your journey to the land of beautiful nature, fairy tale Neuschwanstein Castle and the famous Oktoberfest.

Bawarska Restaurant is located in the Warsaw's Old Town, on the corner of Castle Sq and Piwna St and even the street’s name characterizes the restaurant as it means “beer” in Polish. To enjoy my Bavarian trip better, I ordered the famous Munich Paulaner beer and started to read the menu. “Bavarian specialties in good prices” it says, which is quite catchy especially during the crises time.

I started with Bavarian beer garden classic – Obatzda cheese delicacy (PLN 20). They serve a fair portion of Obatzda, far more then you can spread on the two rolls it is served with and it is really tasty one.
Being at the Bavarian restaurant, I think that ordering some Bavarian “wurst” is a must. To contrast the healthier cheese, I took Two large currywurst with curry sauce and french fries (PLN 30) – a delicious choice indeed. The juicy curry sausages matched the beer even better than Obatza and I was really sorry it's not October yet.

It is only pity that they don’t serve any traditional Bavarian desserts here, but to be honest, after drinking Paulaner beer and eating curry sausages you don’t even feel like having some. However, I order a delicious traditional Polish cheese cake with whipped cream and chocolate sauce instead, which was, at the same time, my return ticket to Warsaw.

At “Bawarska” Restaurant you don’t feel a pressure of time and it is a good place to enjoy slow eating, slow drinking and talking with friends. Their waiters are nice and you don’t wait long for your orders. Bawarska’s location is also a good starting point, or rather the closing one, of your Old Town sightseeings. As the warm days and nights are coming, they will be also opening their summer garden with view over the Castle Sq soon.
