Likus Concept Store Restaurant, June 2008

Likus Concept Store Restaurant, June 2008

You would have probably just passed the entrance to the courtyard when walking along the Krakowskie Przedmiescie street, but that would be a terrible mistake. The way through the bit strange courtyard is not really much promising, however, the hidden Likus Concept Store Restaurant needs to be discovered just as anything else that is unique, original or new.

Once you enter the building, in fact a Concept Store, in which the restaurant is located you will be surely both satisfied and surprised with the design and atmosphere of the place. This restaurant has soul and history, as it is placed in the former Central Baths and the owner did a very good job indeed when renovating it - the art nouveau glamorous interiors are truly original, unique and not comparable to any other place in Warsaw.

We took a sit at the table with tall and comfortable sofas and rather then reading the menu we were exploring the place. After our eyes were fed we ordered the meals - Scallops in lemon caramel served on a goose liver medallion and Tuna carpaccio served on tomatoes with a light, fluffy avocado mousse (both PLN 39) as a starter. Both starters were served in teasing way and tasting deliciously, especially the grilled scallops. Hungry for more, we ordered Juicy tuna steak with lettuce & pesto and Turbot in filo pastry with champagne-flavoured artichokes (both PLN 75) as a main dish and Maracuja crème brûlée with strawberry mousse (PLN 29) for dessert. Fair portions and pieces of art on our plate.

If somebody asked me what is the best restaurant I have ever visited in Warsaw the Likus would be definitely among the first ones appearing on my mind. The way they serve the meals is just completing the original and design style of the restaurant and the tastes are strongly underlining and highlighting it.

We went there on Friday evening and it was really easy to forget about work and get ready for the weekend. Relaxing music backed up by sound of fountain and friendly waiter knowing the menu, and what’s more - able and willing to advice on both meals and wine, however not pushing the most expensive items, just helped us to spend really nice time there. Only prices are above Warsaw average, but we didn’t feel like we were overpaying for what we got.

After you leave the restaurant you may decide to go for a romantic walk along the newly reconstructed Krakowskie Przedmiescie street getting you to the Warsaw Old Town.
