The Royal Castle (Zamek Krolewski)

Royal residence of the old times, and a place where the joint Polish-Lithuanian parliamentary sessions were held. Destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in the 1970´s and 1980´s thanks to the support of donors from Poland and abroad. It was reconstructed in its pre-1939 form in early Baroque style.

The first floor embraces the Court Rooms and the Deputies´ Halls from the 16th and 17th centuries. The second floor comprises the complexes of interiors, like King´s Apartments, Grand Apartment and Parliamentary Halls, where the Four-Year Sejm passed the May 3rd Constitution. Nowadays, the Royal Castle performs a representative function and serves as a scenery for state ceremonies and national cultural events.

We invite you to visit our permanent exhibitions, such as the Gallery of Decorative Art, the Lanckoronski Gallery, the Numismatic Cabinet and temporary exhibitions.
